Melding Our Learned Experiences at Saratoga Clay Arts Center
SCHUYLERVILLE – Melding Our Learned Experiences is the current show in the Schacht Gallery at Saratoga Clay Arts Center. The shows run through Sunday, September 3rd. The gallery hours are Monday – Saturday 11 am – 4 pm. The show features new ceramic works by Jill Fishon-Kovachick and Leslie Strong.
Jill and Leslie have been friends since they met at Skidmore College together in the early eighties. This will be the first time they are exhibiting together. They’ve worked hard over the past year preparing new pieces for this show.
Artist Leslie Strong received her B.S. in Art from Skidmore College (1976) Ceramics/Art History and her M.F.A. in Ceramics and Sculpture from Syracuse University, College of Visual and Performing Arts (1985, Fellowship). Leslie taught Art for over 30 years, primarily at the High School level, but also as a foundation Art program graduate assistant at Syracuse University, in the Summer Six Art Program at Skidmore College, and elementary and middle school Art early in her career. Leslie has exhibited sculpture and ceramic Art in numerous juried and regional competitions and exhibitions throughout the United States and Canada.
Jill Fishon-Kovachick received a BS in Art Education from Skidmore College (1981). She attended Tyler School of Art (1981 -1982) and received a MFA in Visual Art from Vermont College division of Norwich University (1997). Fishon-Kovachick was an Adjunct Instructor at Skidmore College for Special Programs (1993 – 2010.)In 2011, she founded the Saratoga Clay Arts Center, “A community of creation and education” in Schuylerville. She is currently Director of the Center, and lives in Saratoga Springs.
