Hattie’s Crazy Cardinal Cocktail is a Refreshing Approach to Benefit Jake’s Help From Heaven
SARATOGA SPRINGS – Oh, yum!
Meet the reigning pre-event fundraising champ!
Last year, Hattie’s Restaurant (45 Phila Street) took a creative and delicious approach to the pre-event fundraising leading up to the Finest Fillies and Some Colts event at Vapor (this year’s – the Sixth Annual – will be on Wednesday, July 19) that benefits Jake’s Help From Heaven (JHFH). Co-owners Jasper and Beth Alexander, who are returning entrants at the July 19 event, eschewed the ‘single day’ fundraising event strategy in favor of a marathon – putting a special cocktail – Jake’s Crazy Cardinal – front and center for well over a month at their always well-attended landmark restaurant, and dedicated all – yes, 100 percent – of the proceeds to JHFH.
Needless to say, they won the fundraising title going away.
And Hattie’s, of course, is faithful to tradition while creating and enhancing new ones. Coming off such a smash last year, one cannot fault them for “letting it ride.” The Jake’s Crazy Cardinal Cocktail retails for $10, and will be on sale at least up to event day on July 19.
So I stopped into the Hattio (see above re: creative enhanced tradition) where my pals Julio and Luke were behind the bar. Julio showed of his mixology prowess for all of us. Here we go!
Nicely done, gents! A perfect summer cocktail. And a simple idea, well done, yielding big results. Go get yourself 1, 2, or 3. I know a winner when I taste one!
