Hero Moms Raise Money For Jake’s Too!
SARATOGA SPRINGS – A little love for the mom’s on Independance Day, please…
Meet team Mamazing (pronounced – MAH-maze-zing FYI): Erin Hamilton Smith and Tammy L. Haarman are the dynamic duo with that unsung job that we all celebrate on a Sunday in May. “We are a modern Brady Bunch!” Erin explained to me before their appearance last year at Finest Fillies and Some Colts , which will return to Vapor for its Sixth Annual Edition on Wednesday, July 19 at Vapor. “Tammy has three girls and I have 3 boys.”
The two staged a fundraiser for Jake’s Help from Heaven (JHFH) last Thursday, June 30, in advance of the Finest Fillies event, at Erin’s home – a gathering of families and friends, in which information about the locally-based foundation was distributed (see hJHFH’s website.) “Tammy and I don’t have any big sponsors, or anything like that… but we do know how to throw a great party!” Indeed, the group of about 25 people contributed about $600. “I am always inspired when people come together to support a great cause!” Erin said.
Erin got involved with JHFH in a way many moms get involved with activities – through their kids. “My son Caleb in in the same class as Ethan (son of JHFH’s Co-founders Heather and Brian Straughter). We can’t do enough for them… It’s a great cause!” Erin concluded.
For her part, JHFH Co-Founder Heather Straughter had plenty of good things to say about team Mamazing, checking in from vacation to write ” Erin and Tammy have been such a great addition to out lineup! They bring such good energy to our event, and you can’t help but want to support them.”
“They call themselves the underdogs but I wouldn’t rule them out!” Heather concluded.
Team Mamazing has another fundraising party scheduled for next Thursday, July 13 at Tammy’s house. If you would like an invite, contact Erin at 518.223.2058
