I’m a day late (at least), and a dollar short it seems. But hey – no worries, as we mothers know, that phrase i just referenced is a guideline we learn to accept in the life of living in a toddler driven world.
One thing throughout the day we already KNOW.. is that something is bound to fall off the schedule, because a meeting was pushed back, or when you sleep in because you pre-prepped the day the night before, only to wake a beautiful fire breathing princess that has decided she wasn’t giving up her Anna shirt she slept in the night before……so you end up conforming to Elsa’s icy stare and dictate how the way of the world expects your clothing to be neat and tidy while attending public affairs… knowing in the back of your mind you forgot to shave your left leg in the shower this morning, and the makeup on your face now, was from the night before….and looking at the clock I only have 40 minutes to commute, drop off, NASCAR into work… it’s OK. ‘Do as I say, not as I do’ fits well here.
And so it begins.
Mother’s day to me, has always been my favorite. Sunday brunches, daffodils and ham dinner instantly come to mind when reminiscing. Not to mention the feeling of showing how much my mother means to me. Technically you should praise her always. .. but we all know some days it’s hard to love her for who she is… and then I think… and after stating this… I am easily reminded to love her ten times more for what I put her through… and even better… now what my own kids put her through.
So I guess my point here is…. Mother’s day was last Sunday, and I’m just getting time to think about it now. The constant changing, growing, diaper-throwing moments, are going quickly. So love your mother EVERYDAY, and never miss an opportunity to be grateful to have one.
