Habitat for Humanity Volunteers and Sponsors Gather to Celebrate Their Accomplishment at 26 Cherry Street
SARATOGA SPRINGS – When you combine the good feeling derived from home ownership (where once that was but a dream), with the good feeling derived from giving to others and making a difference, you have the perfect recipe for distilling the essence of elation. This, my friends, is Habitat for Humanity in a nutshell.
It was in the spirit of that elation, and also accomplishment, that brought a crowd of volunteers, members of the builders and realtor community, as well as Saratoga Springs officials to the Phila room, on the second floor of the Seven Horse Pub (43 Phila Strret – visit SevenHorsePub.com), for a very special evening to celebrate their recent successful builds in Saratoga Springs. The duplex at 26 Cherry Street addresses the need for affordable housing and made the dream of home ownership a reality for Hope Caprood and Ashley Smith, as well as their respective families. Through the generous support of several partners, Habitat for Humanity is literally building the future for many who had no hope of ever becoming a homeowner! Big Kudos to Tammy DiCara and the team she led on this project.
The smiles were as wide and glowing as any I have seen – and this photojournalist sees a lot of smiles!
Habitat for Humanity partners with people in a local community, and operates all over the world, to help them build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. With your support, Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and for their families. Through our 2020 Strategic Plan, Habitat for Humanity will serve more people than ever before through decent and affordable housing.
Though its overall mission is to “…put God’s love into action,” Habitat for Humanity and its affiliate organizations will not proselytize. Nor will Habitat work with entities or individuals who insist on proselytizing as part of their work with Habitat. This means that Habitat will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must adhere to or convert to a particular faith or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith.
