Donkeys of course… but Elephants and Indies Galore!
SARATOGA SPRINGS-This is not a political blog, but I am politically active… and I know a great party when I see one! And what do I see?
– On Planet Arthur, we know how to count noses, and there were a lot of them crammed into The Wine Bar last evening. They were there to “Mingle with Michele Madigan,” and mingle they truly did..
– On Planet Arthur, thanks to a science requirement for my poly sci degree (don’t ask), I am Zoology educated. Therefore, I am experienced in classifying said noses by type… I expected to see many donkeys, for they are the hostess’ favorite species… but lookie here! Many elephants in the room. Hmmm…. And many members of that highly elusive chameleon-like Indies, who have the power to re-classify themselves at will. We mingled liberally among all species, sending out diplomatic greetings to all:
There was some news to report. Of course, the occasion was designed around Ms. Madigan announcing her intention to run again for Commissioner of Finance. News, yet hardly surprising to any of the assembled. However, in her announcement, Ms. Madigan revealed that she had already secured the backing of the Independence Party again. My poly sci degree has taught me that the Donkey/Indie combo plate can oft be fatal – to all opposition in the jungle. So, while the campaign must play out, there was a good chance that attendees were mingling with a winner.
As a great former Presidential Donkey once said: “You do the math!” I just report, you decide… And that’s the way it is: The best political reporting need not be political. Sociology is on the menu, and the entrée prepared is a choice cut of fun!
