You really ought to check the Battenkill Valley Creamery:
the only fluid milk producer in Washington, Warrren and Saratoga Counties. (That means the milk you drink comes
from the cows you see ranging about in the fields!) It doesn’t get any fresher than that! You can go to the farm’s dairy bar and
try both hard and soft ice cream and buy a couple of bottles of milk. Especially the chocolate milk; guaranteed to be the best you’ve ever
tasted, bar none! Take the
opportunity of their Open House on March 21 from noon til 3pm to see the
operation.
Interestingly,
the Creamery has partnered with the Tour of the Battenkill (America’s largest
pro/am bike race) to produce a specially-designed race-label quart
commemorative bottle of chocolate milk.
A recently study published in the International Journal of Sport Nutrition
and Exercise Metabolism shows that chocolate milk may be as good – or better –
than sports drinks at helping athletes recover from strenuous exercise. And it tastes a whole lot better,
too.
