Surrounded by farmland, the stretch of road between Schuylerville and Stillwater is a great destination for a 26 mile road ride. This bi-county area along the Hudson River and Champlain Canal was recently named Old Saratoga on the Hudson, which is a community-based effort to promote this historic and natural region as a recreational resource along the Hudson River. Canal Park at Lock 4 provides a rest stop half way at 13 miles. There are picnic tables, a porta-john and opportunities to check out an operating lock.
Ride Directions: Start Fort Hardy Park. Rte 29 West. Right on River Rd. Right Stillwater Bridge Rd at 13 mi Right on Rte 4, 32. Stay right on Rte 4. Right on Rte 29 East to Fort Hardy Park.
Driving Directions: Fort Hardy Park
Drive east from Saratoga Springs on Lake Ave (Rte 29) following signs to Schuylerville. Take a right at the light in Schuylerville staying on Rte 29/Rte 4. Continue through town and make a left at the next light staying on Rte 29. Fort Hardy Park is on the left just before the bridge over the Hudson River/Champlain Canal.
