Although New York City is a popular vacation destination in the Empire State, many smaller communities, including Saratoga Springs, are perfect for a more relaxed weekend away. In 2023, Saratoga was ranked #23 on Country Living’s list of the 42 best small towns in New York for an idyllic getaway.

How Does Saratoga Compare to the Rest of the Area?

Country Living’s top 42 list features a mix of small towns, cities, villages, and hamlets throughout New York. Other nearby communities that also made the list include Schenectady at #1, Lake George at #26, and Saranac Lake and Lake Placid in the Adirondacks, which came in at #2 and #8.

With a rich historical background, amazing shopping, great food, and plenty of outdoor activities, it’s a surprise Saratoga Springs wasn’t even higher on Country Living’s list.
